A bit of me

April12Easter14I’m a Jacksonville girl born and raised, with the exception of three years growing up and time spent at UNC Pembroke, where I majored in Mass Communications and worked for The Pine Needle. My father is a retired Marine and my family stayed here after he got out of the Corps. I’m Interactive Content Editor at The Daily News and spend more time working than I do anything else, really. If I’m not at work, I’m on my lap top doing stuff for work, or reading. If I could live in a book, I would, it’s really just that simple. I love my family and adore my friends, though at this point most of them are family. But the love of my life, at least thus far, is my husky Chopper. That guy and all his attitude and, well, bitchiness gets me through the day. The beach, North Topsail in particular, is my favorite place in the world, and where I run to at the end of a long, hard day.

I was quite taken by Amanada Hickeys interest in the holocaust.

Although generations apart, I too became interested after reading Anne Frank and similar books.

My interest was also not shared by family, friends, school and work colleagues. It has stayed with me all my life and has led me to visit Holocaust sites and museums around the world.

In fact, next month I will visit a university near me and donate several articles and books to the history department and the professor who teaches a course there.

If you are in New York, you can visit the Anne Frank Centre.
Look up their information on the web.

How humans could commit the greatest crime in history is a question for the ages.

    Mr. Simpson,
Thank you for your kind words. I’m sure the professor and department will greatly appreciate your donation!

I have done quite a bit of travelling, and in each city usually my first stop would be their world-class holocaust museum.

If anyone is in Berlin, Jerusalem, New York or Washington, a visit to these museums and memorials will change your life forever.
